Shillong, Aug 22: A joint inspection of the Kherapara–Diganggre PMGSY road project, executed by M/S JC Infra Corporation Ltd., was conducted recently following complaints over quality of road, drainage and materials used.
The inspection was attended by PWD (Roads) officials from Dalu Division, Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), Tura Circle, contractor representatives and local residents.
Concerns were raised over quality and progress of work, use of locally sourced materials, drainage construction and adherence to approved DPR, estimate and PMGSY technical specifications.
Locals alleged that drainage work under complaint was dismantled and materials including sand were removed after complaint. The site condition and available evidence were brought to the notice of inspecting officials.
Aspiring candidate for the GHADC election, Sairill D. Marak urged authorities for technical verification, measurement and quality testing and corrective action if deviations are found. He also sought early release of the Joint Inspection Report and Action Taken Report.
Locals demanded transparency, accountability and proper utilisation of public funds and execution as per approved DPR and PMGSY standards.
