Shillong, Jul 18: Cook-cum-Helpers working under the PM Poshan scheme in West Khasi Hills have demanded that the government raise their monthly honorarium from Rs 2,000 to Rs 9,000, citing rising living costs.
The demand was raised during a general meeting of the Union of Cook-cum-Helper PM Poshan Meghalaya, West Khasi Hills District held at Pyndengrei, Nongstoiñ on Friday, which was attended by helpers from schools across the district.
The union also urged the state government to immediately release the pending honorarium for the last three months. “The current Rs 2,000 per month is not enough to sustain families given the current prices,” union members said.
The meeting, chaired by Peaceful Marwein, President of the West Khasi Hills District Unit, was attended by Khroo L. Pariat, Adviser of the State Union, and Gina Nengnong, State President.
