Shillong, Jul 11: The Lyndem/Ryndem clan today celebrated its silver jubilee at the Bharat Scouts and Guides Hall here.
Rev. OL Snaitang who attended the celebration as chief guest, urged clans to document their histories, noting the benefits this would bring for future generations.
He praised the Lyndem/Rymdem clan for having a documented history even as he added that even their financial transactions are audited and put in public domain.
Snaitang also stressed the importance of education and cultural identity. He advocated for the youth of the Lyndem/Ryndem clan to strive for excellence, emphasising that hardworking members of the clan should aspire to achieve significant positions in society, including civil service roles. He expressed concern over the lack of local representation in civil services and said there is the need for proper goal-setting within the clan.
Expressing concerns over the drug menace prevalent in the region, Snaitang pointed out that this alarming issue is troubling the community and emphasised the necessity for vigilance and proactive measures.
Highlighting the destructive nature of drugs, he expressed hope that clans would take the lead in protecting their children from falling into substance abuse, urging families to serve as a shield against these harmful habits.
Furthermore, he encouraged the youth present to avoid procrastination, warning them of the potential dangers they face in the future if they fail to act promptly.
