Editor,
The image of Meghalaya and its sporting image has been dented to an extent where politics and sportsmanship have come head to head. The need for remedy within the Meghalaya Cricket Association is the need of the hour not to forget that each one of those involved in the fiasco should be held accountable but nevertheless the contribution of few individuals like Naba Bhattacharjee is notable.
We cannot deny the fact that it was through his pursuance and vocal stand that our state and other NE states have now become part and parcel of the BCCI cricket map. His contribution at the regional level be it in cricket or any other sporting discipline has been acknowledged where a sport like cricket lacked the resources and capacity and especially his efforts to bring in women into the field is one attribute thus giving everyone a fair chance.
An incident that has gained media spotlight has to have its conclusion but not at the cost of dragging people who have done so much and later on pinning the blame of administrative lapses is something unethical. However we wish that the MCA body come to a mutual understanding of rising up from the ashes and revive the sporting spirit amongst budding youngsters.
