Shillong, Jun 12: Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Friday held a consultative meeting with representatives of educational institutions located in the Laitumkhrah area to discuss traffic management and road safety measures around school zones.
The meeting, which was held at the Office of the Superintendent of Police, was attended by representatives from St. Mary’s LP School, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Loreto Convent, St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School and St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School.
The discussions focused on enhancing student safety, streamlining traffic movement during school hours, improving pick-up and drop-off arrangements, reducing congestion around school premises, and fostering greater road safety awareness among students.
STP said that creating safe school zones requires a collective effort and expressed its commitment to continued collaboration with educational institutions, emphasising the importance of promoting responsible road use for a safer environment for students and the public alike.
