Shillong, Jun 10: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been entered today between the State Council of Science Technology & Environment (SCSTE) and Lords Education and Health Society – Wadhwani AI to collaborate on the use of Artificial Intelligence for innovation and development in Meghalaya.
The partnership aims to support the use of emerging technologies to address developmental challenges and improve public service delivery in the state.
Under the collaboration, SCSTE Meghalaya and Wadhwani AI will work together to develop and implement AI-based solutions, initially focusing on agriculture and education.
In the agriculture sector, the partnership will explore AI-enabled tools to provide farmers with timely and localized advisories, strengthen pest and disease surveillance, improve field-level data collection, and support better decision-making. These efforts are expected to enhance agricultural practices and strengthen support systems for farmers across the State.
In the education sector, the collaboration will support the deployment of an AI-powered Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) solution to help assess students’ reading skills and improve learning outcomes. The solution will provide useful insights for teachers, schools, and education administrators to identify learning gaps and support timely interventions.
The partnership will also promote research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and the responsible use of AI and other emerging technologies. Both organizations will explore opportunities to expand the use of AI to other sectors for the benefit of Meghalaya.
The collaboration is expected to support the adoption of innovative technologies and contribute to the sustainable development of Meghalaya.
