Shillong, May 26: The Meghalaya Nursing Council in collaboration with the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project introduced a groundbreaking online platform aimed at training nurses through real-life clinical case scenarios, which will focus on pressing issues in maternal and child healthcare across remote districts.
The “Continued Nursing Education through Clinical Vignettes” program, which was launched today, is designed to address the needs of nurses in both government and private hospitals.
The online Healthcare Learning System (HLS) pushes case-based training directly to nursing staff, using local treatment protocols and the state’s essential drugs list.
This initiative comes in response to the high maternal mortality rates and inadequate rural health outcomes in the region.
According to Assistant Director of Nursing Grace Perry Sunn, continuous learning opportunities have been lacking at the grassroots level. The online training is a vital resource for those who cannot attend workshops, ensuring that every nurse, from the urban areas of Shillong to the remote Garo Hills, has access to the same clinical standards.
