Shillong, May 16: The Secretariat Administration Department inducted 85 newly recruited Lower Division Assistants (LDAs), who had undergone a two-week training programme at a programme held at the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Mawdiangdiang.
The programme marked the successful completion of the induction training, which was conducted in two batches from April 15 to May 12, aimed at equipping the newly recruited officials with essential knowledge, skills, and professional values required in government service.
Minister in-charge of the department, Sosthenes Sohtun who attended the programme said that such induction training programmes provide a strong foundation for newly recruited officials and play a significant role in preparing them to effectively discharge their responsibilities in government administration.
He emphasised the importance of discipline, integrity, accountability, professionalism, and dedication in public service, while reminding the participants that LDAs play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Secretariat and citizen-centric governance.
The minister acknowledged the inclusion of artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity in the training curriculum. He asserted that these digital tools not only foster efficiency but also bolster innovation, ultimately enhancing service delivery to the citizens of Meghalaya.
MATI Director Swapnil Tembe highlighted the importance of structured induction training in shaping responsible and competent public servants. He stated that LDAs form the backbone of the Meghalaya Secretariat and stressed the importance of accuracy, timeliness, responsibility, professionalism, and ethical conduct in official duties.
He also underscored the significance of Mission Karmayogi and self-learning initiatives through platforms such as iGOT, and urged the participants to embrace lifelong learning and to remain committed to ethical conduct and public welfare, as behind every administrative process, there resides a human story that necessitates sensitivity and dedication.
