Shillong, May 9: Meghalaya started positively in the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship 2026 with a 3-1 victory against Bihar in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, today evening.
Samborlang Langte (20′) put Meghalaya in front with a sensational long-range effort that took everyone’s breath away in the Group A contest and, before Bihar could really recover, Menangpyndap Khongjee (26′) doubled the lead a few minutes later.
Bihar were not subdued, however, and pulled a goal back in the early part of the second half thanks to Md Sadique Rahman (48′).
Although they were under a little pressure, Meghalaya held on to their narrow lead and Menangpyndap (90’+6) ensured a more comfortable finish with a second goal deep in stoppage time.
Meghalaya will next face Jharkhand on Monday morning at 7:30am.
