Shillong, May 5: Rongara-Siju MLA Rakkam A Sangma has welcomed the issuance of a tender for the long-awaited Chokpot–Siju–Karukol road project, estimated at around Rs 130 crore.
In a video statement on Tuesday, Sangma termed the project an “historic step”.
“This vital investment will greatly benefit our people by improving access to essential services while also unlocking the immense tourism potential of areas like Wari Chora, thereby creating new livelihood opportunities and giving a strong boost to the local economy,” he said.
Sangma lauded the state government and concerned departments for taking up the long-pending demand. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.
