Shillong, May 2: The CAU-KVK South Garo Hills, under the aegis of ICAR ATARI Zone-VII, conducted a campaign aimed at promoting sustainable farming practices.
The initiative encompasses poster campaigns, awareness programs, and training sessions focused on the balanced use of fertilizers, organic farming, and natural farming methods.
The program covered a total of 10 villages: Ringkapgre, Bibragre, Nodonggre, Kakhija, Daringgre, Suga, Simkalanggre, Rongrak, Kilboma, and Raja Ronggat.
A total of 206 farmers actively participated in the ongoing campaign, which will conclude on May 20.
The ongoing campaign aims to extend its reach across several more villages in the South Garo Hills district. With a focus on educating farmers, the initiative emphasises the importance of soil testing and the judicious application of fertilizers to sustain crop productivity while maintaining soil fertility.
