Shillong, Apr 21: The process to expand Umroi Airport is moving ahead, with the tender for the project now awarded and groundwork likely to begin soon.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, who holds the Transport portfolio.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said the contractor is expected to mobilise and initiate work in the near future. He also mentioned that directions have been issued to the Transport Commissioner to establish communication with the executing agency to gather further details about the project.
According to him, clarity on key aspects, including the identity of the contractor, the nature and scope of construction, the financial bid and the projected timeline for completion, is expected within the coming month.
