Shillong, Apr 3: A resident of Gasuapara, South Garo Hills S. Salgra G. Momin has expressed concern over irregular Jio network services that have been affecting the community.
Momin said residents subscribe to 2GB daily data plans, but due to poor network connectivity, the community often finds that data get exhausted quickly, leaving them frustrated and disconnected.
He said the repercussions of this irregular network service extend far beyond mere inconvenience. Students heavily rely on stable internet connections for their online classes, research, and assignments, yet they are struggling to keep up with their studies due to constant disruptions.
Stating that office staff, including both government and private employees, face challenges in fulfilling their responsibilities due to connectivity issues, Momin said the community’s safety is compromised in emergencies, where reliable communication is needed most.
He urged authorities to address the lack of proper supervision by Jio’s technical staff which contributes to the ongoing problem.
Furthermore, he said the reliance on an unreliable MeECL power supply, often hindered by adverse weather conditions, undermines the community’s ability to utilise the services they pay for.
“We implore Jio to implement effective measures, such as utilizing diesel generators, to ensure uninterrupted service. If these issues continue unaddressed, the residents of Gasuapara and I will feel compelled to take collective action against the negligence we have faced,” he added in the statement.
