Shillong, Jan 19: A futsal football ground was inaugurated today at Dkhiah East Village in East Jaintia Hills under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Fund.
Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO)-Sadar, Manish Kumar, Rymbai Khliehriat MDC, Violet Lyngdoh, Sumer MDC Krison Langstang, District Sports Officer S. M Rapsang, traditional heads, community members and many others were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Shylla underlined the importance of collective efforts of all stakeholders, including community leaders, the district administration and political leaders in driving overall development in the district. He also noted that inclusive participation and cooperation are essential to achieve sustainable and people centric growth.
Shylla stated that the facility would play a vital role in improving the health and well-being of the people even as he underlined that the futsal football ground is not meant solely for active players to enhance their sporting talents but also serves as a source of encouragement for elders to engage in physical activity and maintain fitness.
Furthermore, he urged the community to make optimal use of the ground as a valuable asset and suggested that it could be utilized to generate income for the Dkhiah East Football Club through collection of nominal user fees, thereby supporting its maintenance and addressing the needs of the club.
Kumar in his speech acknowledged the efforts of DMF and Sports Department for successfully translating the idea into reality and lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders and congratulated them on witnessing such a significant milestone for the village.
He emphasised that funds available through DMF are being utilized to promote inclusive development, particularly in mining affected areas, ensuring that no section of society is left behind in the journey of progress.
