Khliehriat, Jan 12: A Bolero pickup truck stolen from Mizoram and sold online was recovered in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district.
The vehicle, bearing registration number MZ-01-M-7890 was reportedly stolen on December 30, 2025.
The buyer, Salanki Suja said he bought the pickup truck from a person who claims to be from Assam. The vehicle was up for sale on a group named, ‘Group ïa die bad ïa thied kali’ on Facebook. He said he was not aware that the vehicle was stolen.
The owner of the vehicle had lodged a complaint at the Vaivakawn Police Station, Aizawl.
Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar said the vehicle was today handed over to Mizoram Police. He urged people not to buy second hand vehicles without verification and no objection certificate from the police department.
Kumar said buying or dealing in stolen property is an offence under Section 317 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
