Jowai, Oct 28: A total 78 upper primary school teachers across the Amlarem Sub-Division, along with six officials, doctors, and resource persons participated in the ‘School Health and Wellness Ambassador’ programme which began today at the Amlarem Secondary School conference hall.
The four-day programme is being organised by the office of the Block Medical Officer in collaboration with the Education Department under the National Health Mission (NHM) and the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP) initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The programme aimed to strengthen the implementation of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), focusing on early identification, intervention, and referral of health conditions among school children.
The objective of the programme was to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify symptoms of illness or distress among students (Classes VI–VIII) and to take appropriate steps for immediate health response and referral.
The sessions covered vital modules such as Nutrition, Health and Sanitation; Emotional Well-Being and Mental Health; Prevention and Management of Substance Misuse; Gender Equality; Value and Responsible Citizenship; Safety and Security against Violence and Injuries; Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle; and Safe Use of Internet, Gadgets, and Media.
