Shillong, Oct 3: A one-day painting competition themed, ‘Seva Parv – Vision of Viksit Bharat Ke Rang Kala ke Sang’ (Culture and Tradition) was conducted for professionals and school and college students at the State Central Library, here today.
The event was organised by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Department of Arts & Culture to highlight the talent of Meghalaya’s youth and to reinforce the role of art in celebrating India’s traditions and cultural ethos while envisioning a developed and united Bharat.
Budding and professional artists took part with a total of 41 participants across three categories — 10 from the Professional section, 10 from the College section, and 21 from the School category.
The competition provided a platform for participants to express their creativity while reflecting on India’s vision of cultural unity and progress through art.
Balaimon Kharmgap Kynta stood first in the professional category followed by Oliver W Lyndem and Tony May Dalang Slong in second and third place respectively.
Under the college category, the winner was Fasterfield Ryntathiang. Jeddiah Nianglmawi took the second prize and Tomlaseng Wangsu the third.
Neyillian Shioulh won in the school category followed by Himadree Patir and Bansaroi Nongbri in second and third place respectively.
Consolation prizes were given to Sanikannan Challam, Smaran Nath and Tanushree Choudhury.
The Director of Arts & Culture lauded the participants for their efforts, congratulated the winners, and encouraged the young artists to continue pursuing their passion and to actively engage in future cultural initiatives.
