Shillong, Aug 18: A city businessman has complained to the police that certain persons who have taken goods from him to re-sell are yet to pay his dues and have threatened him with death should he continue to try and get them to pay.
In his complaint, Md Sahahbaz Quereshi, a shoe supplier and resident of Mawbah in Shillong, wrote to the Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner complaining that around 12 retail vendors owe him around Rs 12. 93 lakh.
Taking advantage of certain medical ailments he has been facing since January, vendors have started to resist paying him for stock, which has landed him in severe financial difficulties.
One of the accused, who Quereshi named but HP is declining to do so at present, owes him around Rs 3.54 lakh while another owes Rs 1.27 lakh. Both have, according to the complainant, made threats and issued warnings against trying to collect the debt. The former even threatened Quereshi with a gun.
