The occupancy rate of Covid-19 beds in Shillong hospitals rose to more than 88 percent today, meaning that almost nine in every 10 set aside for coronavirus patients in city hospitals is occupied.
All 115 such beds in Shillong Civil Hospital are currently occupied, according to Health Department data from today. The same is also true for the 52 Covid beds in Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital. Bethany and Nazareth Hospitals are almost full up, with both having just two beds each free.
In Meghalaya as a whole, 75 percent of Covid beds are occupied. Only Baghmara Civil Hospital has filled their Covid beds to capacity, with all nine there currently occupied.
There are now 1,040 such beds allocated for the treatment of Covid-19 patients (135 in intensive care units (ICUs) and 905 oxygen-supported beds) in the state. As of today, 785 are occupied all over Meghalaya. In Shillong the figure is 669 occupied out of 757.
