With Meghalaya being inundated with heavy pre-monsoon rainfall, the Damalgre United Youth Welfare Society (DUYWS), on behalf of the students and parents of South West Garo Hills, has written to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to ask why the district is facing six hours of load shedding daily.
SWGH is facing power cuts from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and then from 1am to 5am.
The DUYWS expressed particular concern for students who are about to begin their half yearly exams in a few days’ time.
The load shedding is causing particular difficulty for students preparing for their exams, it added, and demanded that the hours be changed in order to inconvenience the children less.
