Six health workers were among the 22 people in Meghalaya who tested positive for Covid-19, the Health Department revealed today. There were also 18 recoveries and no new fatalities reported.
Of the new cases today, East Khasi Hills accounted for 18, East Jaintia Hills two and West Jaintia Hills two.
All six of the health workers were in East Khasi Hills, which also recorded four infections among high-risk cases, four among returnees and one each in the Laitumkhrah, Mawprem and Rilbong clusters. Two high-risk cases accounted for the new infections in East Jaintia Hills, while West Jaintia Hills saw one high-risk contact test positive along with one in Dongmihsngi.
The 18 recoveries were all reported from East Khasi Hills.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,482 Covid-19 cases, of which 139 are active, 13,204 have recovered and 139 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 97.94 percent. The fatality rate is 1.03 percent.
The Health Department also informed that around 1,250 Covid tests were carried out in the state in the last 24 hours.
