A total of seven candidates filed their nomination papers at Nongpoh on Thursday under Ri-Bhoi district for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) election scheduled for February 21.
Of the seven candidates, five are from the Congress party and two candidates from the National People’s Party (NPP).
The five Congress candidates who completed their nomination process today are Micky Douglas Syiem from Umroi constituency, Dominic Mynsong from Mawhati constituency, Rocky A. Marweiñ from Umsning constituency, Lawrence Nongrum from Nongpoh constituency and Victor Ranee who is also a sitting MDC from Jirang constituency.
Meanwhile, the two NPP candidates who filed their nomination papers today are Rangkynsai Kharbuki from Umroi constituency and Joplin Sten from Mawhati constituency.
As of now, a total of 12 candidates from Ri-Bhoi District have filed their nominations, comprising five from the VPP, five from the Congress, and two from the NPP.
