An induction programme for prospective members of New Dawn Meghalaya (NDM) in Ri Bhoi district was held yesterday.
NDM president, Avner Pariat spoke at length to the attendees on the various principles and ideologies by which the organisation stands on and he also encouraged them to be unfazed and resilient in their service towards the society.
NDM, he said repudiates the notion that issues must be addressed by way of violence, high-handedness or anything unlawful and believes that in a civilized society like ours we can tackle head on any problems facing the state by way of discourse, deliberation and usage of the constitutional mechanisms.
“This is now the age of the khlakhulom, not the khlawait,” he added.
The programme was organised by Ulrich Mawlong who praised the attendees for coming forward in being part of this nascent movement and acknowledged their passion and commitment for uplifting their communities.
The programme allowed for 25 new members to enter the NDM fold. Mawlong said the NDM will be organising various other events throughout the state in order to further encourage and motivate people to come forward and oppose wrong and crooked practices.
