Twenty-one people in Happy Valley tested positive for Covid-19 today, it was informed by the Health Department.
In all there were 70 new infections recorded in Meghalaya today, along with 75 recoveries and no fatalities.
Besides the Happy Valley cases, East Khasi Hills also recorded positives among 13 returnees, three in the Rynjah cluster and two each in Golflink and Nongthymmai. There were also two health workers and two armed forces/paramilitaries who tested Covid-positive. With eight other infections, the total for the district today was 53 new cases.
There were four new cases each in West Garo Hills (three in the Damalgre cluster), East Jaiñtia Hills (all returnees), Ri-Bhoi (all high-risk) and West Khasi Hills. There was also one new case in South Garo Hills.
Of the recoveries East Khasi Hills accounted for 52, South Garo Hills 12, West Garo Hills seven, Ri-Bhoi three and East Garo Hills one.
In all, Meghalaya has had 11,810 Covid-19 cases, of which 763 are active, 10,936 have recovered and 111 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 92.60 percent and the death rate 0.94 percent.
November has seen 2,358 new coronavirus cases in the state, compared with 2,591 recoveries and 23 fatalities. Cases increased by 25 percent over October, with recoveries increasing by 31 percent.
However, the number of Covid-19 tests carried out has dropped by around a quarter for an average of 1,270 per day (these figures are not supplied by the government on Sundays) in November, down from the 1,600-plus in October.
