Two people were nabbed in separate incidents on suspicion of theft and an attempted break-in, police said today.
At about 3:30am today, police on duty at Goraline, Laitumkhrah detained one person identified as Malsawmkima (25) while transporting aluminium window frames, which he had reportedly stolen from Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah. In the other case, residents of Madanrting, Pdengshnong, apprehended one person while he was allegedly attempting to break into a shop in the neighbourhood.
Police also announced that, acting on inputs, they raided the house of one Jeffrey Lyngdoh (27) at Mawïong Lumsyntiew in West Khasi Hills and seized 19.96 grammes of suspected heroin powder from within the house.
Two further robberies were reported to police recently. On July 30, KM Singh complained, unknown miscreants broke into his residence and stole one laptop computer valued at around Rs 30,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs 13,000.
Meanwhile, Hamewanroi Sumer of BSNL, lodged a complaint that on the night of July 28 unknown miscreants stole a generator, power cables and a battery from the BSNL tower in Umtyra, East Jaiñtia Hills.
