Two Assam-registered trucks were involved in a collision today that left the driver of one of the vehicles requiring medical treatment.
At approximately 12:30pm, on National Highway 6 in Umkaliar, Ri-Bhoi, two 12-wheel trucks (AS 01 NC 8892 and AS 01 JC 7251) collided in the Guwahati to Shillong lane.
The first truck was carrying chicken feed and was on its way from Guwahati to Tripura. The second truck was loaded with clinker bound for Guwahati from Shillong.
The second truck, which was reportedly speeding, crossed the divider at the fateful spot and hit the other coming from the opposite direction.
The speeding driver was trapped within his vehicle as a result of the impact and police and others required several hours to extricate him. The driver was treated at Umsning before being brought to Shillong where he is receiving care at NEIGRIHMS.
