There were 100 more recoveries from Covid-19 than new infections reported in Meghalaya today, with 48 new cases, 148 recoveries and no new fatalities from the virus.
Of the new cases 47 were in East Khasi Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi.
One of the new infections in East Khasi Hills was that of a health worker, while four were among armed forces/paramilitaries, three of police personnel and four among returnees. There were also several cases in various clusters, including three in Umpling and two each in Jhalupara, Lummawbah, Mawprem, Nongmynsong and Pynthorbah.
The recoveries were divided between East Khasi Hills (127), West Garo Hills (seven), Ri-Bhoi (six), South West Garo Hills (four) and West Jaiñtia Hills (four).
Twenty-seven of the recoveries in East Khasi Hills were among armed forces/paramilitaries, with the other 100 among civilians.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,189 Covid-19 cases, of which 586 are active, 12,470 have recovered and 133 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 94.55 percent. The fatality rate is 1.01 percent.
The Health Department also informed that around 1,800 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.
