Thirteen climbers of the Meghalaya Sport Climbing & Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) will represent the State at the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition to be held at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh from January 9 to 11.
MeSCMA president Malviancy Shabong in a statement here today informed that the climbers had undergone a four-day training, which concluded on January 6, after a selection trial was conducted by the association in December, last.
The selected climbers will be accompanied by Hunlin Lyngdoh as a Team Manager.
In Sub Junior Girls, the climbers are Dadapbiang Lyngdoh, Pynkmenlang Lyngdoh, Aijingsuk Lyngdoh all from Upper Lumparing, Idaseisoh Tongper from Nongtalang and Mebalaaishisha Tham from Sohra.
Mebandonlang Umsong (Lyngkyrdem), Hamebanker Nongsiej (Mawranglang) and Givensamson Lyngdoh (Mawlangwir) were selected for the Sub Junior Boys category.
In the Junior Boys category, the climbers are Kyrmenskhem Lyngdoh, Benison Mawlong, Lurshai Nongkhlaw and Atiar Nongkhlaw all from Upper Lumparing and Bankyrshanlang Tham from Sohra.
Meanwhile, three members of the association, Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Teimiki Sungoh and Ibakordor Shisha Mary Sawian will officiate at the Zonal competition as judge, route setter and belayer respectively.
The association has expressed its gratitude to the Commandant of the 58 GTC, Happy Valley for allowing the members and climbers to use their climbing wall for the selection and training purposes ahead of the zonal competition.
