Residents of various villages in the outskirts of the city had to suffer an unannounced power shut down for almost 10 hours on Saturday.
Sources said various parts of 7 Mer, Mylliem, Sadew, Mawjrong and adjacent areas had to undergo power cuts due to maintenance work.
Residents have expressed their anger over the unscheduled cut saying if such installations are made authorities must give out prior notice before disrupting daily life.
Many commercial establishments and small scale entrepreneurs suffered huge losses due to the shutdown.
The people also pointed out that such power cuts happen in the city but are informed beforehand, but no such announcements are made in rural areas.
