In an act of negligence and rash driving, one person was seriously injured after he was hit by a pickup truck at Pahamlapong village near Nongpoh.
According to information received, the vehicle (AS 01 CC 0189) was being driven by a driver under the influence of alcohol identified as Kermiki Sungoh of Mynso village in West Jaintia Hills. The victim was unidentified.
The incident occurred at the service lane of National Highway 6 at Nongpoh.
The injured person was rushed to Bethany Hospital for immediate treatment. Police have detained the driver and the passenger and a case has been registered.
