The District Youth Congress Party, West Garo Hills has sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner with regards to the deteriorated conditions of Government LP Schools in Tosinpara, Chinaramgre, and Rongmagre under Raksamgre constituency.
District Youth President Rikrak M. Sangma said that the organisation carried out a ground inspection of the schools and were appalled by the dilapidated conditions in which young children are compelled to study—under broken roofs, exposed to sunlight and rain, and amidst unsafe, crumbling structures.
“Despite the constitutional guarantee of the Right to Education Act, 2009 and Article 21-A, which mandates safe and quality education for all children aged 6-14, these schools continue to operate in gross violation of basic educational and infrastructure standards,” he said.
Urging the district administration to take swift action by conducting an immediate inspection of the affected schools, the youth Congress also sought urgent renovation and restoration works under relevant government schemes in order to ensure a safe, inclusive, and dignified learning environment for the students.
