A month-long observation leading up to World No Tobacco Day on May 31 began in North Garo Hills, with various schools in the district carrying out marches armed with posters and banners called for a stop to the consumption of tobacco.
Signature campaigns were also held. Awards for the best school (primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary) based on the impact of their messages and the number of signatures they collect, will be selected from the blocks to represent the district at the state level.
