The office of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of East Jaintia Hills observed World Day Against Child Labour on Thursday at Rymbai Government Secondary School.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about children’s rights and the issue of child exploitation. Resource persons from the DLSA deliberated on the significance of the day, emphasising the importance of protecting children from discrimination and exploitation.
Key topics discussed during the programme included the legal protection of children against discrimination and exploitation, rights of every child under 14 to receive education and live in a safe environment, the Child Marriage Act and its implications, as well as health issues associated with child marriage.
