A family in Ri-Bhoi was left heartbroken after a 53-year-old woman and her 3-year-old grandson died on the spot after they were electrocuted today.
This incident occurred at Narang village when a low tension power line fell on a coconut tree, which triggered the deaths of the two victims.
The woman has been identified as Lut Shadap.
On hearing about the incident, police and officials from the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) rushed to the spot to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Umling circle of the Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) condemned the accident, blaming carelessness on the part of MeECL. The pressure group also demanded compensation for the victims.
