A farmer from Meghalaya, Angela Shangnoi of Mawkynbat village, West Khasi Hills has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Champion Woman Farmer Change Makers Award’ by the Outlook Group at a function held in New Delhi.
The award was to recognise her outstanding contributions in the field of agriculture and allied activities. Shangnoi is the only farmer from Meghalaya and one of only three from the Northeast region under Zone VII ICAR-ATARI, Umiam.
Shangnoi has been working tirelessly with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Khasi Hills, for over a decade, implementing innovative farming practices and inspiring her community with her dedication and expertise. Her exemplary work has been recognised and promoted by the ICAR-ATARI Umiam and KVK, West Khasi Hills, leading to her selection for this prestigious award.
Shangnoi’s commitment and cooperation with KVK has not only transformed her farming practices but also empowered numerous other farmers in the region. Her commitment to sustainable agriculture and her role as a change maker have earned her widespread recognition and admiration.
The award was presented to Shangnoi by Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
