The inhabitants of Thangbuli in West Jaiñtia Hills have strongly condemned the shabby construction of the PMGSY road connecting Jaraiñ, Thangbuli and Umladkhur.
The sanctioned amount for the 4.39km road in 2020 was Rs 21.385 lakh
under the Union Ministry of Rural Development, implemented by the Jowai South Division cum Programme Implementation Unit (PIU) of the Public Works Department.
The Waheh Shnong of Thangbuli, Disuk Tariang, said that the road’s condition has been raised with the PWD Executive Engineer in 2022-2023 and the contractor was directed to conduct repairs but failed to do so properly.
Locals have set a November deadline for the repairs failing which they will take other steps.
