The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills, AK Singh, has passed a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the BNSS against the operation of a tollgate set up by the Dorbar Shnong of Priang, a village in WJH.
The order, issued on April 11 but shared with the media today, was necessitated to “stop the illegal collection of entry fees” on the road leading to Kupli Orchid Resort in Priang.
Singh said that the dorbar shnong has been collecting “entry fees” on the route leading to the resort, which is a state government undertaking.
The District Magistrate has received complaints from various quarters that the tollgate has “created a lot of inconvenience and hindrance to the commuters and the citizens of the adjacent regions”.
