East Khasi Hills police detained three persons in connection with the assault of two persons in Mawthlong village near Nongbsap.
Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi said that the persons identified as Skerling Pyrtuh (39) and Kyntiewnam Pyrtuh, both of Mawthlong, and Traibor Lyngdoh (30) of Nongbsap were detained last night at around 12:30 am.
He said they were released on bail today after a thorough interrogation even as investigation in the matter is under progress.
On March 16, the Special Operation Team (SOT) team from Shillong rescued two persons who were thrashed by a mob of around 200-300 people reportedly on suspicion of being ‘menshohnoh’, i.e. allegedly involved in human sacrifice.
A video of the incident had gone viral on social media that shows the two persons being tied to a pole as people surrounded them.
