VPP president Ardent M. Basaiawmoit today asserted that he would continue his indefinite hunger strike until the State government issues a notification regarding setting up of an expert committee to review the job reservation policy.
Thanking the people for the support to his agitation, Basaiawmoit termed as “partial victory” the decision of the all-parties meeting today to recommend to the State government to form an expert committee for review of the quota policy.
“It is some kind of victory for us. But I will not leave this place until the State government issues an official notification regarding the formation of the expert committee. I will go back home as a winner,” Basaiawmoit said.
“We are waiting for the notification. If the government is still adamant then the people will react,” he added.
The hunger strike by the VPP chief entered the ninth day today. He began his fast on May 23.
