Youths from West Garo Hill district were announced the winner of the state-level Science Mela in the group category followed by Ri Bhoi and East Garo Hills in the second and third place respectively.
In the individual category, Ri-Bhoi District secured first, followed by East Jaiñtia Hills in second and West Jaintia Hills in third respectively.
These winners will now represent Meghalaya at the National Level, celebrating scientific innovation as part of the National Youth Festival 2025.
The mela organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with the SCSTE and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan concluded at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on November 7 under the theme “Innovation in Science and Technology.”
The four-day event featured impressive science exhibits from 12 districts across the state. The event showcased innovative projects from young talents across Meghalaya.
The event is part of the lead-up to the National Youth Festival 2025. Each district featured 4-5 science exhibits, and winners from the District level proceeded to compete in the state level. It comprised both individual and group categories, including nine individual exhibits and ten group exhibits.
The program emphasised the role of science and technology in addressing real-world challenges, aiming to inspire the next generation of scientific thinkers and problem-solvers in Meghalaya.
