North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum has maintained that the current VPP wave in the State is not only the wave for victory but also showed a wind of change.
“Most of our rivals in power are not only desperate but they have become frustrated against the VPP wave that is becoming stronger every day,” Nongrum told Highland Post recently adding that the public response towards the VPP is very positive.
He further expressed fear that the 2 per cent implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the normal areas of Shillong is a matter of concern because it would give rise to influx.
“The present government is responsible for this because it keeps giving false assurances till matters get out of hand on various issues including the ILP,” Nongrum said.
“People will vote for the VPP candidate because they know that this party will not give false promises or assurances. The people know that our party has the courage to call a spade a spade,” he said.
He also referred to the laying of several foundation stones by the MDA government just before the 2023 Assembly elections while many projects remain unfulfilled while the State is under the grip of huge debts.
Nongrum said that the VPP is working harder and travelling to every nook and corners of the State to educate the people on clean politics and governance and the party’s efforts were accepted by the people.
