The VPP has sought an apology from a member of a political party who verbally abused and threatened the enforcement personnel of the District Transport Office at Laitumkhrah on July 8 and also shouted the slogan ‘Ha U Prah’.
“The recent incident where one individual verbally abused and threatened the enforcement personnel of the District Transport Office at Laitumkhrah while carrying out their duty was condemnable. The concerned individual was not only abusing the personnel but threatened them with mob justice in the name of ‘Ha U Prah’. This is a detestable act in which the authority should take strict action against him. Upon the inquiry done by the party, it has been found that the concerned individual had been an important member and worker of one particular national party,” the VPP said in a statement issued today.
Stating that the party does not encourage anyone, including its members and supporters to be haughty, commit nuisance and crimes, the VPP said that the action of the individual in this instant case was done with an intention to malign the party’s image.
While strongly condemning his action, the VPP demanded that the concerned individual should tender unconditional public apology and the apology should be published in the media for his dragging the party’s slogan ‘Ha U Prah’ into his ruckus.
“This is required to be completed within three days from the date of publication of this press release in the media. Failure on his part to comply with our demand, the party shall be constrained to take appropriate action,” the VPP said.
The party also urged government officials to refrain from any act that may cause undue sufferings to the general public while executing their official action. “At the same time, the public should respect them for carrying out their duties for the general welfare of all,” it added.
