Voice of the People Party (VPP) chief and Nongkrem MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit today made it clear that the VPP will not, at any cost, work with the National People’s Party (NPP).
“There is no question for us to work together with the NPP because of countless reasons, including misgovernance, rampant corruption and scams, etc,” he said today.
When asked who the VPP will support, he said, “We have already laid down the terms and undertakings of the party that include zero tolerance for corruption, wastage of public money and political parties who want to join us or want our support have to accept our terms.”
Speaking about the VPP’s stunning performance, where it won four seats on its debut, Basaiawmoit, who reclaimed Nongkrem after being deposed five years ago, said, “The public support for the VPP is overwhelming… If within such a short period of preparation for the election we can win four seats and do well in other constituencies, it is a clear indication that the people yearn for change.”
