The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has asked all of its four MLAs to make sure that the MLA scheme is implemented in a transparent manner and a detailed report of the same be made public on a regular basis.
In a letter to the four party MLAs, VPP general secretary Ricky A J Syngkon informed that the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party which met on July 20 had a detailed and threadbare discussion on the issue of transparency and accountability by party legislators.
While urging the four MLAs to make sure that the MLA scheme is implemented in a transparent manner and to regularly make public a detailed report of the implementation of the scheme, the VPP also asked the legislators to ensure financial propriety with respect to TA and DA and sitting fees as members of any Assembly Committee and to ensure that any renovation to MLA hostel allotted to every MLA must be reasonable and justified.
“All legislators are requested to kindly take note of the above points brought forth by the SEC and to ensure that the decision be carried out in letter and spirit in the interest of the public and the state at large,” Syngkon said in the letter.
