Residents of Mawiong village in Ri-Bhoi protested in front of the Public Works Department Nongpoh Division office today, alleging that a road was damaged by a contractor who was tasked with developing a football ground at Raid Nonglyngdoh at Pahambirthem.
Led by village headman Mathius Maring, villagers met the Sub-Divisional Officer of the PWD’s Nongpoh Division to seek information as to why the road was damaged for the football ground work without informing the Dorbar Shnong of Mawiong.
Maring informed the media that the SDO has assured the villagers that the PWD will renovate the portion of the damaged road.
