The East Garo Hills district administration in collaboration with line departments conducted an awareness programme at Rongongre and Cherangre of Samanda block under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on various central government schemes being implemented in the country.
Officials and resource persons from Meghalaya Rural Bank and Reserve Bank of India spoke on the financial inclusion and social security schemes, such as PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana. New beneficiaries for these schemes were also registered at the venue.
Officials from the Public Health Engineering Department spoke on the achievements of the Jal Jeevan Mission, providing rural households safe and adequate drinking water.
Department of Agriculture and Farmers’s Welfare, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), East Garo Hills, highlighted the importance of organic farming and importance of soil health management.
Officials from District Commerce and Industries Centre, East Garo Hills, spoke on PM Vishwakarma Schemes, which provide opportunities to the people to get themselves enrolled for various training courses like carpentry, tailoring, masonry, pottery, etc.
Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Central Agriculture University, Imphal), Megagre, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya, urged the participants to develop and practice organic farming and get their soil tested to know the best agriculture product which can yield higher production. They also urged the villagers to take up fish farming and know which variety of fish will yield better produce for them.
Eligible villagers were also registered for free gas connection under the Ujjwala scheme.
Doctors, Nurses and Staff from Nengmandal PHC and Sampalgre Health Sub-Centre, East Garo Hills, also urged the villagers to get themselves tested for malaria, blood sugar, tuberculosis, etc. A medical health checkup was done at the venue. Services were provided to pregnant mothers, children and lactating women.
The central government-owned Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corp Ltd performed a drone demonstration on spraying fertilisers, pesticides and seeds covering a large area.
