As part of a media tour under the central government’s Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programme, a team of journalists from Uttar Pradesh are currently touring Meghalaya.
Today, the four journalists from UP called on the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan.
Yesterday, the team visited two sites where Viksit Bharat programmes were being organised – Mawmihthied and Swer villages in East Khasi Hills. The journalists got an opportunity to interact with state officials, headmen and beneficiaries of government welfare schemes.
The main objectives of this media tour are to provide the media an opportunity to see for themselves the development of various central government schemes in Meghalaya and to enable coverage of important programmes and projects of various ministries.
The tour is being organised by the Press Information Bureau, Shillong, in collaboration with Press Information Bureau, Lucknow, under the aegis of Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
During their stay in Meghalaya, which will last until January 11, they will also visit West Jaiñtia Hills and Ri-Bhoi to understand the ground realities with respect to the impact of central government schemes in Meghalaya.
