Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers and New and Renewable Energy Bhagwanth Khuba today visited Nongstoin and reviewed the status of progress of central government schemes in the state.
The minister reviewed the implementation of the schemes and met the representatives of all the departments and district administration.
“Today I reviewed the implementation of schemes of all the departments and district administration,” Khuba said, adding that he is happy with the implementation of the government-aided schemes. He also said that there are some concerns and that discussions have been held to tackle the challenges.
Highlighting the PM KUSUM rooftop solar scheme, Khuba informed that more subsidies are available for North East states.
“The KUSUM rooftop scheme is all over India. We are providing more subsidies here to the North East states. All schemes pertaining to the North East region are always given priority and more subsidies are provided to benefit the people. I urge the district administration to take more benefits from MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) schemes,” he said during his address in Nongstoin.
The minister also held a meeting with the locals and headmen who informed him about the various challenges faced in the area. Khuba assured that every possible measure will be taken to address their challenges.
While addressing the media here, he reiterated the central government’s focus and priority in developing the North East across different sectors – infrastructure development like National Highways, road connectivity in villages, good quality drinking water and more.
“In a span of nine years, the North East has emerged as equal to other developed states of the country,” he asserted, adding that the government has ensured that Union ministers visit the North East states every fortnight to ensure speedy implementation of the Centre’s social and economic programmes.
Later, the minister visited Mawkawah Anganwadi Centre, Sibsingh Memorial Government School Nongpyndeng and Mawlieh Sub-Centre (Health and Wellness Centre). He interacted with the beneficiaries of the central government schemes, including the PM AWAS Yojana and found that there has been proper implementation of the welfare schemes. He exhorted the district officials to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries get the benefits entitled to them under these schemes.
