Two more persons were arrested in connection with the murder of four persons, including two Nepalese nationals, whose bodies were found with multiple injuries in Umpleng, East Jaintia Hills on July 6.
Earlier, first accused involved in the crime was arrested on July 11.
Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad said, a case number 49(07)2024 u/s 103/3(5) BNS was registered at Khliehriat police station and during the course of investigation, one person was arrested.
“The details of the arrested person are not being disclosed in the interest of investigation,” Prasad said.
A special investigation team (SIT) was constituted to assist investigation into the gruesome murder of the four persons.
Four bodies with hands and feet tied and cut marks in the neck were found behind the Umpleng market. The victims have been identified as Nazar Kyndait (33) of Dkhiah East of East Jaiñtia Hills and Ravi Rai (23) of Elam village, Mechipradesh, Nepal and Rajesh Rai (26) of Dharan Sunsari village, Koshi Anchal, Nepal and Lobe Tamang of Moolait Bri-Sutnga.
