The United Democratic Party (UDP) has emphasised the need for a Member of Parliament (MP) with a strong background in law.
UDP Vice President Allantry F Dkhar said that it is only when an MP is equipped with legal knowledge that a significant difference can be made in Parliament.
“UDP is offering an MP with a sound background and legal knowledge, which is the need of the hour,” he told reporters.
Regarding the election prospects of the RDA candidate and the current campaigning process, Dkhar stated that the public is responding well to the issues the party has brought before them.
He mentioned that there is special focus being made in constituencies represented by MLAs and MDCs.
He said that the party is currently holding up to seven public meetings at various locations in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills, and the general response is heart-warming.
The party is equally focused in all seven districts, but Dkhar mentioned that they are more focused on grassroots connections rather than social media presence.
Dkhar expressed hope that the efforts of all elected representatives and party leaders would translate into a victory on June 4.
